The City says its Vice Squad will carry out inspections at places of entertainment in the city more often, following inspections yesterday at six premises that were found to be operating illegally.
“This means that businesses are either not in possession of a valid business licence, only have ‘verbal approvals’ or are trading with an application displayed on their walls,” said the City’s Neil Arendse.
Arendse said the situation is unacceptable and warned illegal businesses ventures that if caught operating without a valid license, they will face serious consequences.
“Businesses that are found operating without a legal licence will be fined and this will in turn reflect negatively on their application, if lodged. Licences should be applied for from the City,” said Arendse.
He added that the Vice Squad will also act on tip-offs.
