An officer of the City of Cape Town’s Vice Squad was approached by a sex worker who claimed to have been forced into the sex industry and brought to Cape Town under false pretences.

The 25-year old woman approached the officer during a routine inspection of hotspot areas in Brooklyn.

She told the officer that she was brought from Johannesburg to Cape Town under false pretences and wished to return home.

She was allegedly brought here eight months ago by her foreign national ‘friend’, who told her she will work in his shop.

When she arrived she was allegedly given heroin and forced to work the streets.

She claims to now be three months pregnant as well.

The Vice Squad immediately removed the woman from the streets and the case was handed over to the Hawks for investigation.
