The National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa says workers in the car manufacturing industry will strike next week Wednesday.
This comes after about a million workers in the public service said they would down tools on Tuesday.
Numsa says it was never their intention to strike, but the stubbornness of the Automobile Manufacturers Employers Organisation has compelled them to take action.
Negotiations between Ameo and Numsa, which represents about 31-thousand employees in the motor car industry, broke down yesterday.
Labour is looking for a 15-percent wage increase.
