Explosion at Egoli Gas

The flames from the Egoli Gas pipeline explosion along Vickers Road in Johannesburg are still burning intensely up to ten metres high this morning.

The pipeline exploded at about 22.30 last night.

Gauteng Paramedics say there has been no sign of the fire calm down since it started last night.

It appears that one of the connectors on the pipeline leaked and caused the explosion.

At least 30 firemen from five stations are trying to douse the blaze and there have not been reports of any injuries.
