A Sunday Times journalist has been arrested on allegations of fraud and defeating the ends of justice.
The Hawks unit arrived at the newspaper’s offices in Johannesburg this morning and arrested Mzilikazi wa Afrika.
He was later taken to Rosebank police station and immediately transported to Mpumalanga.
Lawyers say wa Afrika was arrested for being in possession of an allegedly fraudulent letter of resignation from Mpumalanga Premier David Mabuza to President Jacob Zuma.
Hawks spokesperson Musa Zondi says wa Afrika will appear in court within 48 hours.
Wa Afrika is one of the journalists involved in a recently-published report about the 500-million-Rand rental of the new police headquarters in Pretoria.
