The South African Broadcasting Corporation is under fire for unpaid royalties.
Numerous recording companies lodged papers with the High Court, this was in an a attempt try and get the national broadcaster to pay its debts.
The court papers which were lodged were also supported by approximately 1.500 artists who also claim that the national broadcaster is robbing them of their livelihood.
These recording companies include Sony BMG, Warner Music, Gallo Africa, EMI and Universal Music.
The SABC today stated that it did not understand how numerous recording companies came up with the figure of R28 million that they owe in royalties.
Kaizer Kanyago from the SABC said the national broadcaster will be meeting with the complainants in court. A court date has not been set yet.
