Patricia de Lille has today being officially installed as Cape Town’s new executive mayor.
This was done at the first meeting of the new city council.
De Lille received 137 votes in the council.
In her speech De Lille said she looks forward to continuing projects such as the Integrated Rapid Transit (IRT) system and the backyarders housing initiative.
She added that it is time to close the book on controversial episodes of the past and begin work for the next five years.
