ANC spokesperson Jackson Mthembu has denied ever telling a Sunday newspaper that Youth League president Julius Malema could be charged for his comments on regime change in Botswana.
On Saturday, the League apologised and withdrew its statement that it was sending a team to Botswana to help overthrow the government.
According to the ANC, Mthembu had explained to the Sunday paper that party officials would need to decide whether to accept the apology, as the original statement had been a serious transgression.
Meanwhile AfriForum will ask the Hawks to investigate their complaint of corruption against Malema.
