Lusanda Bill
08 August 2011
Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa has described as “appalling and disgusting” the fact that 768 serious criminal cases were filed against police officers.
This is in the past two financial years.
In reply to a parliamentary question, Mthethwa revealed that the cases include 50 of murder, 94 of rape and 516 of assault.
He says any member who traumatises and abuses those he or she is entrusted with protecting deserves to rot in jail with the key thrown away.
