The woman who first blew the whistle on South Africa’s arms deal, Cape Town mayor Patricia de Lille, says the Hawks’ decision to make enquiries into whether criminal charges should be brought against South Africans involved, should be commended.
The Hawks launched a preliminary investigation following new information that emerged in Sweden.
De Lille says the Hawks are on the right track.
Meanwhile the Presidency said it has no comment on the Hawks decision to investigate every aspect of the arms deal.
