British Prime Minister David Cameron has recalled parliament from its summer recess for a day tomorrow following the riots that have swept through London and other parts of Britain.

Cameron broke off his annual holiday to return to Britain to handle the crisis. He called the destruction “criminality pure and simple".

Rioters caused mayhem in London for the fourth night running last night and some 16-thousand police members tried to restore order as more shops were robbed and cars damaged.

There were only six thousand policemen and women in the streets on Monday night.

Some 111 Met officers have suffered injuries including serious head and eye wounds, cuts and fractured bones after being attacked by rioters wielding bottles, planks, bricks and even driving cars at them.

Five police dogs have also been hurt.
