The ANC Youth League has abandoned plans to march to strategic centres of economic power during its 65th birthday celebrations.

The League last month announced plans to march to the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, the Chamber of Mines, Agri SA and the Union Buildings to demand economic freedom.

Spokesperson Magdalene Moonsamy now says they have decided to concentrate on other priorities.

The birthday celebrations began yesterday with a memorial lecture at the University of Pretoria.

A rally will be held in Alexandra, Johannesburg, tomorrow.
