The City of Cape Town’s Disaster Risk Management Centre is intensifying its public awareness campaign, with the introduction of a community-based education theatre programme in informal settlements across Cape Town.

The team aims to go around the townships educating the public about fires.

Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security JP Smith said this means that the officials together with the law enforcement officers will be embarking on preventative measures.

Smith said the communities will benefit a lot from this as they will learn about different types of disasters and what to do in cases of those disasters.

The campaign started today in Phillipi East informal Settlements.
