The Democratic Alliance has today called for increased supervision of patients at the Free State Psychiatric Hospital.

This call follows an incident where a patient was raped by a security guard.

DA Shadow Minister of Health Patricia Kopane said no counselling has been provided to the victim.

It is also not clear whether an HIV/AIDS test has been done.

Kopane called for the MEC to beef up security at the facility and ensure that all security personnel are vetted.
