The Cape Town Metro Police is now extending its safety school programme to include more schools in the city.

Additional metro police officers will be deployed to schools most affected by crime.

This comes after a matric pupil was shot dead at the Spes Bona High School in Athlone last week.

Metro Police’s Wayne le Roux said they have identified problematic schools, due to their relationship with the Education Department.

“We believe their presence at schools has a been a deterrent, there has been a slight reduction of incidents at school, the visible presence has assisted us” le Roux added.
