President Jacob Zuma on Wednesday announced sixty days starting from the 29th of January as the date for judges to disclosure of their interests.

The judges need to disclose their interests and those of his or her immediate family members for the first time.

The presidency said the process will be finalized by the 31st of March 2014.

Presidency Spokesperson Mac Maharaj said this process will ensure that the disclosure of judges’ registrable interests coincides with the start of the 2014 financial year.

“In terms of Section 13 (4) of the Act judges are required to disclose their interests and those of their family members within 60 days of the fixed date.” Maharaj added.

He concluded by saying that President Zuma has therefore fixed 29 January 2014 to give the Registrar approximately two months from December last year and this year to ensure that the administrative structures are in place to record the particulars of judges’ registrable interests.
