The Western Department of Education said 6 412 candidates qualify to write their 2013 supplementary National Senior Certificate Examination but the due date to register is on Friday.

WCED MEC Donald Grant said the results mean that 98.7% of candidates in the province who wrote the 2013 NSC either passed their NSC or qualified to write supplementary exams.

Ministerial Spokesperson Bronagh Casey said these figures are significant as they only indicate a small percentage of candidates 1.3% failed more than two subjects in the NSC.

“Now in order to assist these candidates to pass their supplementary examinations to those that did qualify the WCED is offering free tuition programme” Casey added.
