Police Dive Unit, local Police and Law Enforcement are continuing a search at Camps Bay Beach where an unidentified man remains missing in the sea despite an extensive air, sea and shore search that has yielded no result on Saturday.
NSRI
Spokesperson Craig Lambinon said NSRI Bakoven were activated following reports
from Camps Bay lifeguards of a drowning in progress at Camps Bay Beach
off-shore of the pump station in Camps bay.
Lambinon
said lifeguards reported that the man, dressed in dark jeans, had run into the
sea for unknown reasons and lifeguards suspecting the man to be caught by
strong rip-currents had swum after him but he had disappeared under water
before they could reach him.
Lambinon
said an extensive search in rough seas with a 2 meter breaking surf revealed no
sign of the missing man and the Police Dive Unit will continue an ongoing
search operation.
"Police
are currently investigating” Lambinon added.
