Zuma in court for 64th birthday

Former deputy president Jacob Zuma will spend part of his 64th birthday in the Johannesburg High Court on Wednesday. Zuma is defending himself against a charge of raping a 31-year-old HIV-positive family friend at his home in Johannesburg in November last year. He claims the sex was consensual. The court heard testimony this week that the complainant had allegedly made at least seven false rape claims before. The defence tried to discredit the woman by calling witnesses, including two pastors, who say she had falsely accused them of rape or trying to rape her. Zuma’s defence team is expected to put more witnesses on the stand today.
The case continues.
