The DA calls for the replacement of Home Affairs Director-General

Democratic Alliance spokesperson on Home Affairs Sandy Kalyan has called on President Thabo Mbeki to fire the Director-General of Home Affairs Mzuvukile Maqetuka. This comes after the Auditor-General's findings presented to the Home Affairs Portfolio Committee last week painted a picture of financial disarray and corruption in the department. Kalyan claims that as the accounting officer of the department, the Director-General is directly responsible for the almost one-billion rands that has not been accounted for properly. Kalyan adds that as the political head of the department, Minister Nosiviwe Mapiso-Ngakula is constitutionally mandated to take responsibility for its successes and failures.
