A number of individuals were honoured at a function, held by the Mayor of Cape Town, at the Athlone civic centre on the 2 July 2008. The event was organised to thank those men who brought down the copper cable theft. According to Councillor Pieter Van Dalen, says that these men have made it possible for nearly 200 arrests to be made.

“Well I think that these members have shown that they went above the call of duty. They are working day and night. They have put in a lot of hours over time, and do not get paid for all of it,” said Van Dalen.

The members of the team have proved to be dedicated and really put in a lot of effort. They have brought down the theft of copper cables from R22 00 000 to R500 000 in just one year.
