An elderly Cape Town couple has been found dead in their home in Brackenfell yesterday. Police suspect they could be the victims of a family murder.

Hendrik and Marina Strydom’s 46-year-old son was found wounded on the same bed but died of his wounds in Tygerberg Hospital this morning. Police spokesperson Imspector Erica Crous says that Marina’s sister made the gruesome discovery this morning and called emergency services.

Their relative had called their residence earlier. Inspector Crous said at this stage “it appears they must have been shot”

The relative gained access through the front door which was unlocked and made the discovery in the bedroom.

After seeing a firearm on the bed she contacted emergency services and emergency services discovered that all three sustained head wounds “probably from gunshots from the firearm” said Crous.

“At this stage it is unknown who fired the shots or exactly what time the tragedy took place, the investigation continues. A ;etter was also found on the scene where the party claims that it was a decision from all of them to end their lives and at this stage it looks like the reason was financial”
