Authorities in Cape Town have arrested hundreds and fined more than 14-thousand people for traffic law violations since the start of December.
Spokesperson Nosiseko Samuel said from the first of December to January the fourth the metro police have issued more than 14 300 traffic fines, 86 were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol 4 948 were unlicensed drivers and 3 727 for unlicensed motor vehicles.
“Despite the holiday season coming to an end the metro police officers will continue to maintain a higher visibility presence with routine roadblocks and patrols”
Samuel said that new hi-tech devices like two-wheeler personal transporters and fingerprint scanning machines are helping them crack down on criminals.
