The World Health Organisation says Zimbabwe’s cholera epidemic appears to be getting worse daily. As in yesteday 1 732 people died from this desease dead. This up from last week's total of just over 1 600 dead. It says the number of deaths rose by 27 on Monday, while the number of those infected is more than 34 000.
International agencies believe that the figures are a tiny percentage of the real amount of the disease that has swept through all the country’s provinces.
The government has delayed the opening of schools by two weeks because it fears that teachers may abaondon classes due to the country's worsening humanitarian crisis.
Schools were set to re-open next Tuesday, but education secretary Stephen Mahere said in Zimbabwe state media that classes will start on the 27th of January.
Zimbabwean teachers also went on a series of strikes in 2008 due to the inflation which negatively affected thier wages.
