Yesterday evening, NSRI Strandfontein assisted by Metro Ambulance and Rescue Services responded to Strandfontein beach following reports of a drowning incident.
The NSRI station manager said that on arrival on-scene duty Surf Lifeguards were found attending to a 39 year old male who had been brought out of the water by a bystander after reportedly getting into difficulty while swimming.
“CPR efforts on the Mitchell's Plain man were successful and he has been transported to hospital in a critical but stable condition by a Metro ambulance,” said Nawahlodien Panday, NSRI Strandfontein station commander.
