12 March
Yesterday cash in transit heist occurred when two cash in transit vehicles were travelling in Racecourse Road Milnerton.
As they approached the intersection with Otto du Plessis Drive a cream Mercedes Benz collided with the security vehicle driving in front.
Police spokesperson Daphne Dell said that a group of armed suspects exited the Mercedes Benz and fired several shots at the security vehicle with a heavy calibre assault rifle.
No one was killed or injured. One of the robbers used a mechanical device to open the door of the cash-in-transit van but failed to gain access to the safe compartment.
The suspects fled empty-handed. The search continues for the suspects.
