Rene Phete is in a critical condition after her husband tried to kill her. Constable Elton John Phete shot at his wife, then turned the gun on himself.
“Constable Elton John Phete shot his 25 year old wife then shot himself.He died on the scene," said SAPS spokeswoman Marie Louw.
Rene Phete survived the attempted murder and has been admitted to Tygerburg Hospital.
"She is in a critical condition,” said Louw.
Rene Phete is also a police officer, working at the Delft Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit
