The South African of Civil Engineering Contractors and National Union of Mineworkers and Building, Construction and allied Workers Union have reached an agreement in the construction sector wage dispute.
The agreement was reached after a 17 hour long talk in CCMA offices in Johannesburg.
About 70 000 workers went on a nationwide strike to demand a 13 percent wage increment.
Construction workers returned to work this morning to continue where they left off last week.
Both workers and employers are confident that they will meet the end of the year deadline.
It is reported that some of the workers are happy with an agreement even though they are not getting what they were striking for.
Permanent employees will also be entitled to a pension fund and medical aid benefits.
