First swine flu death in South Africa

With more than 500 cases of swine flu reported in South Africa, one person has died.

A 22 year old student from University of Stellenbosch has died after contracting H1N1 virus.

“Yes we can confirm that one person has died because of H1N1 virus”.

“The student was submitted to Durbanville Medi Clinic, with pneumonia and he suffered cardiac arrest,” said Western Cape Department of Health spokesperson.

The student died last week Thursday.

At the moment there are 42 confirmed cases of swine flu in the Western Cape.
