A body of an unknown man was discovered in the informal settlement of Site C DTC Block in Khayelitsha.
The body was discovered yesterday morning by community members with an open wound to its face.
Police spokesperson Captain Anneke van der Vyver says police responded to the scene and interviewed community members in the area.
“Community members informed police that they heard a noise during the early morning but did not investigate,” said van der Vyver.
Van der Vyver says Police cannot confirm allegations of the victim’s possible involvement in crime and the community taking the law into their own hands.
The victim is believed to have been in his 30's and police are currently in search for his next of kin.
