Body found dumped near informal settlement

A body of man was found dumped with fatal injuries to its head early this morning.

The body was discovered around 10 am on an open piece of ground at the back of Blikkiesdorp in Delft

Police spokesperson Captain Joe Wilson says on arrival of police the body with injuries to his head, which he sustained after a concrete boulder, was dumped on his head was later identified.

“The deceased was identified as 23 year-old Phathuxolo Mafalala, residing at Tsunami Informal Settlement. The deceased was last seen alive the previous night at 21:00 and was found fully clothed,” said Wilson.

“The cause that gave rise to the incident could not at this stage be determined, but police are following up all possible leads,” he added.
