Khayelitsha police members managed to arrest five suspects yesterday believed to have been involved in several robbery incidents in Site B, Khayelitsha.
Yesterday afternoon at the Sanlam Centre, Site B, the victim alleged that he had been confronted by 15 young boys, who grabbed hold of him made off with his cell phone and cash.
The suspects fled on foot and a chase ensued.
Community members, who witnessed the incident also assisted. Police members also joined in pursuit of the group and managed to arrest five of the 15 suspects.
Police questioned the suspects but they denied any involvement in the robbery.
One of the Inspectors then dialed the number of the cellphone that had just been stolen.
The phone rang in one of the suspects pockets.
The suspects were immediately searched and the stolen cash also recovered.
The other suspects have not yet been arrested but will follow soon.
