The Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) condemns the murder of the first deputy president of the South African National Taxi Council Mthuthuzeli Molefe, in Johnnesburg last night.
Police are investigating weather the killing was linked to the Bus Rapid Transit system launched earlier this week.
COSATU National spokesperson, Patrick Craven says the union demands the police to hunt down his killers and bring them to justice.
“Molefe was among a delegation which met with COSATU leaders on Monday to discuss ways to resolve the disputes surrounding the implementation of the Bus Rapid Transit system. He came across as a man of the people and his contributions to the discussion were very positive and constructive,” said Craven.
Craven went on saying Molefe clearly understood very well the problems of his industry and his presence will be sorely missed in the coming weeks of difficult negotiations.
Craven says there must be no tolerance for anyone who uses violence to try to sabotage the process of providing the best possible form of safe, quick and reliable public transport for the people of South Africa.
