The SABC had announced yesterday that it will close down five of its foreign bureaux and scale down operations in other countries to cut costs.
The offices include: China, Senegal, Belgium, Brazil and one of two in New York.
The broadcaster board deputy chair Phi Mtimkulu has reportedly saying the approved budget for the bureaux for this financial year is just under R37 million.
In this initiative the broadcaster will save a minimum of R7 million for this year.
However, the major benefit will be felt in the next financial year when the revision of strategy will result in saving of at least R32.5 million.
