Former University of Cape Town vice chancellor Mamphela Ramphele says she is disheartened by youth leaders who are disrespectful to older people.
Ramphele was addressing a capacity crowd in Cape Town during the Helen Suzman memorial lecture last night.
She cited what she called outrageous statements levelled against Professor Kader Asmal by some of the country's youth leaders.
This is reference to the recent slamming by the former ANCYL president and current deputy police minister Fikile Mbalula to the former minister.
Ramphele a political activist, physician as well as educational administrator, called on young people to condemn youth leaders who don’t respect their seniors.
Ramphele is currently Chair of Circle Capital Ventures, a Cape Town based Black Economic Empowerment Company focusing on Growing Companies and Investing in People.
