Police are requesting the assistance of the public in their search for four suspects involved in an armed robbery in Claremont.
The victims, a 54 year old man and his companion had been approached by the four and robbed at gunpoint of their cell phones and cash on their premises.
Police spokesperson Captain Angie Latchman says the suspects then ordered the victims to take them inside the house.
Once inside, they demanded to be shown where the cash and jewelry were kept.
“Once the safe was opened, the suspects removed several items of jewelry, foreign currency and four firearms, of which two were revolvers and two were rifles,” Latchman added.
Latchman says the suspects also robbed the complainants of their debit and credit cards to which they had to provide the pin numbers as well.
“The suspects then locked the complainant and his companion inside a bathroom and then fled from the scene in unknown getaway vehicle,” Latchman added.
According to the complainants, the suspects aged between twenty five and thirty five were clad in black clothing and spoke English with a local accent.
No shots were fired and no injuries were sustained.
Police are appealing to anyone with information to please contact the Claremont SAPS.
