Education MEC Donald Grant has expressed the department’s sadness over the tragedy. The excursion had been organised by the school.
Grant spokesperson Bronagh Casey says the Minister is deeply saddened by the death of the learner.
“Minister Grant is deeply saddened by the death of a Grade 7 learner from Fish Hoek Primary School.
“This tragedy has come as a great shock. Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this very difficult time.”
The learner is alleged to have drowned yesterday at a school camp in Worcester. The tour had been organised by the school.
