Lusanda Bill
9 May 2011
The 18th of May 2011 polls could be hit by demonstrations during a strike by municipal workers.
The South African Municipal Workers Union, says a deadlock on wage negotiations and its demand for the firing of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Minister Sicelo Shiceka, among other issues, have forced it to call a national strike starting on Friday.
Samwu has 220-thousand members working for municipalities across the country.
The union also wants all provincial governments to be scrapped.
