Two Senegalese men were arrested for the alleged illegal possession of seven elephant tusks in Milnerton, Cape Town yesterday.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Andrè Traut says they caught the men red-handed after a tip-off from a local security company.
“When police arrived on the scene two Chinese men sped off in a Volvo.
“They are accused of throwing threw bags containing elephant tusks out of the car window. A VW Golf which was parked on the scene was also searched,” said Traut.
The circumstances surrounding the matter are under investigation and the search for the two Chinese men continues added Traut.
