As high-profile mourners continue to stream to the Sisulu home in Linden, Johannesburg, the Nelson Mandela Foundation says Albertina Sisulu deserves as much respect and recognition as her husband, Walter.
Spokesperson Sello Hatang says MaSisulu, who passed away yesterday at the age of 92, will forever be remembered as the person who nominated Madiba to become South Africa’s first democratically elected president. Hatang says she will be sorely missed.
Political parties from all corners of the country have also sent their condolences to Sisulu’s family.
The United Democratic Movement says she was “a shining light in the struggle for liberation”.
