Trade unions in the industrial chemicals and glass sectors have declared a wage dispute after negotiations deadlocked on Tuesday.
Union bosses have received a certificate of non-resolution, meaning they will be allowed to strike once they have given 48-hours notice.
Ilze Nieuwoudt is the spokesperson for Solidarity, one of the unions who declared the wage dispute.
She added that no progress has been made in coming to an agreement.
