Airbus has had to step in to correct blunders Public Enterprises Minister Malusi Gigaba made in his budget vote speech in Parliament.
The aircraft manufacturer says South African Airways is planning to lease, and not purchase, aircraft, as indicated by Gigaba.
He spoke about the renewal of the SAA fleet to replace long- and medium-range passenger aircraft.
Airbus also says the new aircraft SAA has begun taking delivery of are Airbus A330-200s, not A300-200s, as stated by Gigaba.
Production of the A330-200s stopped some years ago.
