The ANC Youth League has apologised for campaigning for regime change in Botswana.
Spokesperson Floyd Shivambu says in a statement issued this afternoon that the League apologizes and withdraws its comments because it notes that the leadership of the ANC took serious exception to the ANCYL’s statement on the matter and classified it as a transgression of ANC constitution and policies.
Shivambu says, however, that the League will nevertheless discuss internally the deeper political and ideological considerations that led to its statements about the regime change in Botswana.
The discussions will be held with the view and intention of establishing common ground and agreement with the leadership of the ANC.
