Cosatu welcomes Shrien Dewani’s ruling

Lusanda Bill
11 August 2011

The Congress of South African Trade Unions has welcomed the ruling by a British magistrate that Shrien Dewani can be extradited to South Africa to face charges of murdering his wife in Cape Town.

COSATU spokesperson Patrick Craven says the organisation totally shares the magistrate’s confidence in the South African justice system and has urged the British Home Secretary to implement the decision without delay.

Craven says Dewani must be brought to South Africa without delay to stand trial.

His legal team will be given every chance to refute the charges, but ultimately justice must be done.
