The DA was ruled out of order at the sitting of the Judicial Service Commission in Cape Town this morning when it sought permission to propose another candidate as chief justice.

Justice Minister Jeff Radebe said this could not be done at this stage. President Jacob Zuma’s nominee Judge Mogoeng Mogoeng asked to address the hearing at the start of proceedings.

He said he had been treated unfairly by people who had picked out just a few of his rulings. Mogoeng argued that a study of other judgements would show that he was neither sexist nor homophobic.
