AgriSA says the long awaited green paper on land reform will bring certainty to the agricultural sector.

Rural Development and Land Reform Minister Gugile Nkwinti says the proposals in the paper seek to correct the imbalances of the past without necessarily disrupting agricultural production and food security.

AgriSA deputy president Theo de Jager reacted by saying although the green paper contains some negative elements, the farmers’ organisation is pleased that government has admitted that the existing restitution model is not workable.

Nkwinti revealed that black farmers had resold almost 30-percent of the white farmland government had bought for them.

In many cases the land was sold back to the previous white owners
