Four people have been arrested for being in possession of drugs by the crime Intelligence Unit.

Police spokesperson Captain Frederick van Wyk says detectives from the Crime Intelligence responded to information of a man allegedly transporting drugs on the Cape Flats.

“The members followed the car, a red Toyota Conquest, for a period of time until the driver stopped at a robot in Klipfontein Road, Rylands, where they approached the vehicle.

“Upon searching the driver of the vehicle, large amounts of cash was found in both his trouser pockets and 5 grams of Heroine was found hidden in his underwear, said” van Wyk.

He added that the driver and his friend were arrested on the scene for dealing with drugs.

“Further investigation by detectives led them to Bronze Street, Vanguard Estate where they approached a flat situated at the rear of a residence.

“Inside the flat two people, a man and a woman were found in the process of packaging heroine and a thorough search of the flat was conducted during which various plastic bags containing heroine and a huge undisclosed amount of cash, including foreign currency, were seized,” said van Wyk.

He says in total, 1 kilogram of heroine with an estimated value of R300 00-00 was seized.

All four arrested people are being detained at Manenberg police station and will appear in Athlone Magistrates Court on Monday.
