Judge Mogoeng Mogoeng has been appointed as the Chief Justice of South Africa.
President Jacob Zuma made the announcement this afternoon at the Presidential Guesthouse in Pretoria.
Mogoeng was put through a two-day interview process by the Judicial Services Commission last weekend.
Zuma thanked Mogoeng for the dignified way in which he has responded to criticism of his nomination.
