Academics
have mixed feelings about the amount of media coverage being given to expelled
ANC Youth League president Julius Malema.
Journalism professor at the University of the Witwatersrand Anton Harber says Malema is still a significant political figure.
Harber adds that reporters are obliged to cover his activities as he remains influential in the run-up to the ANC’s crucial December conference in Mangaung.
Yesterday Malema laid charges against police who were involved in the Marikana masssacre.
