Shack fires left people homeless in Langa

A late Saturday night fire left 120 people homeless, Disaster Operations Centre said.

The fire occurred in Lerotholi Avenue, Langa, burning 31 shacks and scores of people displaced.

City’s Disaster response teams assisted with blankets, baby packs, clothing and building material.

Disaster Risk Management Centre Spokesperson Wilfred Solomons-Johannes said they are assisted the fire victims and no one was injured in the fire.

He added that the cause of the fire is not known at this stage and the police are still investigating.
